Catching Up...

Well, this little blog seems to have gotten away from me! Or rather, I turned away from it. It has been months since I updated and that should be remedied. I will try and keep it short and sweet and somehow cover the last 3 months of adventure in the lives of Kelli and Dave!

February: At the beginning of February, we had a three-day weekend. Dave and I decided we would travel up to Tikal, the most famous Mayan ruins, with our friends Patrick and Steph. At the last minute, I couldn't go but Dave went ahead (don't worry- I practically had to force him out the door!). He had a great time and now I can't wait to go back with him. We'll probably save that trip for when his parents come some time next school year.

March: Spring break was at the end of March. Dave and I went to El Salvador for the first couple of days of spring break. Dave got to surf again, which he loves and hasn't been able to do in a long time. I got to lay by the pool and read, read, read. I almost took a surfing lesson, but then I chickened out. Next time! We were so lucky to have Jackie, Kendra and Derek come visit us towards the end of the break. On the first day of their visit, we went to Antigua for the Semana Santa (Holy Week) processionals. They were amazing! I could see how power the whole event COULD have been, had it not been for the ice cream vendors and guys selling toys, cotton candy, pinwheels, and other assorted oddities that are not in any way associated with the cruxifiction. We drove to Rio Dulce and spent a couple of days at a fantastic little hotel called Tortugal. We swam in some hot waterfalls, played scrabble, and just spent the time catching up.

April: April has not brought many adventures. Well, not for me. Dave has been super busy starting a Guatemalan rugby club with his friend Colin. They organized a team for a 7's tournament several months ago and from that came the idea for a full team. They played (and WON!) their first game two weekends ago and have another coming up soon. I think Dave is really enjoying playing rugby again.

And now it's May. Next weekend is a 4-day weekend for us. We haven't quite decided what to do. We may go back to Tortugal for a couple of days or we may just stay here and take a day-trip or two. Only time will tell!
