I said I was going to write for 30 minutes a day, so I'm going to write today because I missed yesterday. But I'm not doing this the right way. I'm sitting on my couch, watching "Criminal Minds" now. I love that show which disturbs me because it's so dark and creepy. I'm also watching Bay who has, it seems, magically overcome her fear of our grass and is now walking around and trying to sneak into the garden area, which tells me that she's buried something in there. I hope it's her blue racquet ball because she loves that toy and I can't find it right now. But we also bought her a Christmas present- a purple Kong that she is in love with! It's so fun to watch her play with a new toy- she's so adorable! I really missed her while we were gone for break, though she looks very healthy, so I know she was fine.
Speaking of fine, I'm not. Yesterday was not one of our best days and I'm feeling the wrath. The woman in front of me on the 8+ hour plane ride from London to Miami might've had TB. No, not really. But she did have some nasty cough that I'm pretty sure I've caught. Or I can blame Dave who gave something to his mom and now I think I have the same thing. Whatever it is, and whoever I got it from, I'm sick. It made today, our first day back at school after the Christmas break, a little painful. And long. But now I'm home and Dave is doing the shopping and my maid rocks so I'm defrosting something for dinner and I'm going to try really hard to stay awake until at least 8pm before I crash.
Why was yesterday so bad, you might be wondering. Well, let me break it down.
Our flight from London to Guatemala was leaving at 9:45am on Monday. Dave's parents live about 3 hours from London. We decided that it would be better if we didn't really sleep on Sunday night, seeing as we would need to be up at 3:00am to make our flight. Well, I failed miserably at that and slept for a rough 4 hours. Dave didn't. The flight from London to Miami was good- long, but good. We had a 4 hour layover in Miami, an aiport I hate, by the way. After getting a drink and some food, we went to settle in to our gate for the last hour or so, only to discover we'd left the Kindle on the plane! We tried everything to get it back but the STAFF AT AMERICAN AIRLINES AT MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT were horrible!!! I'm just making a point. They were rude and mean and even though we went back to the gate and the plane was still there, no one would go check for us. So there's $400 down the drain. I know it's our fault for leaving it, but really, someone could've been more helpful. Anyway, that put a HUGE downer on the day... and it didn't get better. We got on the plane, which was supposed to leave at 6:45pm and land in Guate at 8:35pm. After 2 hours on the plane and then switching planes, we finally took off at almost midnight and we were home by 2:30am. Then up for school by 6:30am.
You will rarely hear me complain about my life. It is marvelous and I know everyday that I am blessed. But sometimes, I do hate the actual traveling part. It's not fun.
I'm a little early, but I'm done today.
