5 1/2 Weeks- Not that I'm Counting!

With 5 1/2 weeks to go- 28 school days to be exact- I'm starting to get... well, nostalgic isn't quite the right word. Nostalgic is defined as unhappy about being away and longing for familiar things or persons. I'm not sure I'm going to be sad to leave China. I take that back- I KNOW I won't be sad to leave. This has not been the place for us and we're okay with that. Maybe me and Dave just aren't City Folk :) But there are things I will miss about China.

1. Cheap massages once a week... or more!
2. Friday drinks with the girls at Mesa or Cotton's
3. American Idol nights
4. Taco Tuesdays
5. Walkies with Bron

There are other things too... but not many. Mostly I am excited to close this chapter and start our next adventure in Guatemala. I want us to have space to run and play and explore. I want to be able to take the dogs out for a nice walk, hike or swim. And I want to enjoy my job. I love the kids I teach, but I have no passion for it. At the end of each day, I'm just glad I made it through again. I know teaching drama is going to ignite that passion and I'm going to love it!

Dave is gone on China trips this week- he's in Xi'an which is where you'll find the Terracotta Warriors (picture). We were just there a couple of months ago. I'm ready for him to come home, though it sounds like he's having fun.

On a slightly more dramatic note- I lost Dave's golf clubs on Saturday night. Our school had it's annual pub crawl- The Dragon Crawl and Dave arrived late after a long day of golfing. No matter what you think (or what you've seen) I'm not a big drinker and especially not out in public. By the time Dave got to the British Bulldog, I was done for the night. He asked me to take his clubs home and I said I would. I shared a cab with a friend and we chatted the whole way home. She got dropped off first, then me. I got out of the cab, walked three steps and remembered the clubs in the "boot" (that's English for trunk). I turned around and the cab was gone!! There was nothing on the street! I took off running in the only direction I thought he could've gone but it was completely futile. The guards at my apartment called the police- I thought they were calling the taxi company- who were unable to do anything. So now, our friend Dan who is fluent in Mandarin, is going to call the taxi company to see if anyone has turned the golf clubs in. Keep your fingers crossed.

There isn't much else to tell right now. We're both just plowing through and counting the days until we get to GA and the summer! It's almost the end of the day... can I count it as 27 days...?
