It is Monday, and a rainy one at that. But strangely, it's okay. Both doors in my classroom, along with numerous windows, are thrown open and I am enjoying not only the sound of the rain, but the smells of the freshly mown grass, the wet earth, and the hot asphalt. It is unbelievably beautiful. Yesterday, as I was driving home from the mall (with a successful but expensive yarn load), I got caught in the afternoon rain that makes up 'Rainy Season'. And I couldn't help but notice how large and fluffy the grey clouds were. They weren't the depressing, heavy grey of a Shanghai-rain. In fact, every so often, a brilliant blue sky would poke through the not-so-offensive clouds and I was greeted with the promise of what was to come. I think that two years in Shanghai has had an amazing effect on me- instead of dulling my senses with its' grey skies, pollution, tall buildings and noise, it has awakened them to how truly beautiful a thunderstorm can be. So... thank you Shanghai.
In other news- life is good here. This past weekend saw us celebrating Friday afternoon with a few drinks at the Patio, a small bar up the road from our school. Saturday Dave went golfing and then we went to a friend's house to watch the GA game... and much to my dismay, a few other games. One football game a day... or week, really... is definitely enough for me. Sunday Dave recovered from his fun weekend and I did a little shopping (remember the yarn-load!). This coming weekend is Guatemalan Independence Day so we have Monday and Tuesday off from school. We will be visiting an amazing water park (so I've heard)- Irtra. It's okay to be jealous :)
