Antigua is beauitful! It was so nice to walk through a city and see mountains, trees, and COLORS!! China was so drab compared to the vibrant splashes of reds, blues, yellows and greens everywhere in this place! Like any tourist spot, there are vendors selling their wares and their music for a little of your pocket change. We stopped to watch a family dance and play the recorder and drums in the middle of the street and felt happy to give them a few quetzals. The youngest one had braclets of wood on his arms and he danced and jumped around the basket in the middle. The funniest thing was the look on his face when our group began to dance with him- it was like, "What are they doing? They look stupid!" Too cute, I tell you.
Our first impressions of the school- today is our first official day (I'm typing from my classroom!)- is that it's amazing. The people are friendly and helpful and the school is just as bright and colorful as the rest of the country. We have yet to see anyone with a frown or without a helfpul or kind word. I think we're going to like it here!
On final first impression- it's like the DR. Toilet paper in the trash can, not the bowl. That's a hard habit to break in either direction!
Adios for now!
